Here's what we are doing, and it's okay. I'm not thrilled with it, but it works. We are using a combination of Writing Strands for the older three kids and some Critical Thinking Press books (Critical Thinking Activities to Improve Writing Skills, Descriptive Mysteries, Where Abouts, for grammar - Punctuation Puzzlers, Run on Riddlers, Editor in Chief). I am new to home schooling, just getting started with my 3-year-old, and I have a few "newbie" questions. How do most of you structure your days? Do you have specific time that is allotted for school or does it change depending on what you have going on in a particular day? In addition to adding supplements, you might want to try an elimination diet or check for allergies on the food front. There is a huge difference in my son when we eliminate certain foods. Top things to try in general are gluten, dairy, corn and apples. Don't take them all out at once, but if you're game to try it, eliminate one of those at a time. You might also notice if there are certain times of the day when things are more difficult and see if you notice a connection with meal times. The fatty acids (EFAs, evening primrose oil, flax oil) are all

It is fun to do but imo it's money not necessary to spend. Just a
little reading about neurotransmitters gives a clear understanding of
what is associated behaviorally with symptoms of each....then it's
easy enough to treat with 'raw materials' - ie amino acids and the

Homeschooling, as I understand it, comes under the umbrella of "what is best for my child." For some kids traditional school makes sense. For other kids, school at some age, home school at another age makes sense. I have 2 school-age kids: one goes to public school and one is home schooled. I'm sure I'm not unique here and I strongly suspect others on the list have plenty of experience with traditional high schools, both good and bad.
So that is hardly an off-beat or inappropriate question.

I agree with you, Beth. Who cares about perfection? In our house, that's something I actively work to avoid.
