In general, I'm with you Bill about keeping things simple. It seems to
me that it goes along with the homeschool lifestyle to do things
essentially. On the other hand, it helps me to plan my Shabbos meals in
advance each week: what's on the menu, what's in season, how many guests
for which meal, are there sleep over guests, etc. The steps include
preparing the shopping list, cleaning out the fridge so there's room for

I actually have a lot to say about this; we just our daughter's bat
mitzvah two weeks ago (which is why I was too busy to write earlier).
Although we kept it simple as far as cost, the effect was very
elegant and the whole event was very well thought out. We planned a
lot, and as homeschoolers, of course, that meant that my daughter
(who is the only one of my kids who homeschools) was involved from
