Now something seems to be missing without all the extra hooplah.
I personally have never felt much of a need to enhance the holidays with outside activities. Certainly not for a four year old. For us, Purim is a fun and busy time just with the costume/mishloach manos planning, baking, megilla readings, deliveries, seuda, etc. I have nice memories of making hamantaschen as a kid, and [...]44_28Feb200621:20:26-0800avivahwerner@YAHOO.COM

If you have the energy, you could always start a Jewish Brownie troop or
camp fire girl group. My son was involved with a Jewish cub scout troop
when we were in Denver and there were things planned, tzedaka projects
parties etc. It was a small group and the kids were from varied
backgrounds but it was all kept kosher so everyone could participate (we
were the only shomer mitzva family in the group and we never felt out of
it-- all activities respected Shabbos and kashrut. We even had a chug

Purim costumes, and the kids are thrilled to bits. Any ideas for easy
shtick or something we can bring to share with the residents? It is not a

I wouldn't do anything too "shticky" or silly because people have all

music?

(Btw, I loved what you wrote so far, especially about the qualities of one's closest friends, and it was nice to see what you look like after all these years of knowing you in cyberspace!)
I was seriously tossing around the idea of starting a blog several months ago. It was at that point that I discovered how many bloggers are out there, sharing their thoughts about just about everything, and found some of them helpful and even inspiring. I thought it might be fun to have a [...]44_20Mar200620:14:43-0800avivahwerner@YAHOO.COM

Almost missed this message, the messages in digest are coming through with

rural lifestyle in a Jewish community. It may exist in other places, I don't
know, but we love being able to live away from the cities. However, Israel
is so small, that nowhere is really far from a city... [...]42_21Mar200610:50:10+0200fox.louise@GMAIL.COM

I took a look at Israel Bookshop - it looks good, but I couldn't see any Chumashim. I have scoured the internet looking for this book, but can't find any hint or trace of it. The search is complicated slightly by the fact that there would appear to be a native American tribe called the Chumash as well. I don't know where to look next. Do you have any other recommendations?

reconsider starting a blog. Even if you only do it for a while, what
ever you write will stay on the web (if you don't delete it) for a long
time. Someone could do a search or even find you "randomly" and gain
something from the wisdom you have to offer. I don't think any effort is
wasted in this world and these blogs kind of reflect that. I posted
something to ehow.com and found that some unusual blog quoted me,
including my website address! I vote you go [...]39_22Mar200616:53:43+0200tolife18@JUNO.COM

north and there're a lot of rural communities here, one in particular
near Tzfat called Kadita that I know of where there is hardly anything
around, yet it's a short enough drive to Tzfat. It would put you in a
small community with others who like things simple. (and I'm pretty sure
there are homeschoolers there too)
All the best, this isn't an easy journey, this conversion. One of my
closest friends is a gieress (convert) and she once said to me, "there is

Thank you for the information and for the encouragement. It is a difficult
time to make all the decisions and to work out a "new" live, but we are also
excited about the journey.
Thanks
