Then, for NEM, what have you found most useful? (I didn't make the order I considered making of this several months ago, because I wasn't up to it and couldn't figure out the following aspect.) questions are, but I can make some general remarks
here.
I have only used the level I set with my kids, but we
own the level II and I have looked through it. I like
the spiral idea very much -- it allows my kids to do
an activity, let the ideas marinate while they do
other activities, and then go back to this idea. This
reinforces the conceptual basis of the operations.

Solutions manual, published by Sonlight. Pricey, but helpful if you
don't have a lot of time for working through every problem yourself.
Useful when the kids get stuck. Be aware that often, they find
alternate ways to solve a problem. I did not find any need to

alternate ways of solving problems - there are often 2 or more approaches

What I would add to what Avivah wrote about you being the parent is that
I think the proving should be the other way round. Rather than you
having to give him good reasons why not, he has to convince you why it

The theory is at this site:

The materials (posters, workbooks, cd's) are available at this site:

I have personally used this method and it WORKS. Instead of seeing the

work. (See the revadim site for more info, he explains it very well).

Avivah's response spoke to me -- take a deep breath, and structure it as

Bicycling is an excellent way to develop real independence. The cyclist

obeying traffic laws, maneuvering safely, proper nutrition, and much
more. And that's just when cycling around the neighborhood! Longer
distances add additional responsibilities, and increase the breadth and

With your support, of course, have your son put up a poster in your frum
community to form a frum bicycling club, and engage older, experienced frum
bicyclists to be advisors. Or join an existing frum bicyclist club, if any.
That way, your son will not attempt to "do it alone" and "go against his
parents wishes". If there is interest, I think it might work out. Start
small. I would not recommend joining a secular bicycling club, as the only
frum Jewish member. The risk of straying off the path is high. [...]39_28Sep200522:35:43-0400merilyn@ABSOL.COM
