My dream is almost the same as yours so maybe we have the start of
something. I already bake my own challah, grow some of my own food and would
love to live in the country in a small community. But, can't we do it in a
warm climate? My fantasy location is actually Costa Rica, beautiful weather,
scenery, great for home schooling, CHEAP and Jewish friendly. At least I can
dream... [...]55_MBBBILGKJFPEBLEDHCCHAEHCDEAA.drswift@therightremedy.com

I live in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, NY. Yes,
Brooklyn. Believe it or not, it is a very diverse and
I feel tolerant place. I think there is a niche for
everyone here. (Not to mention an abundance of kosher
foods.)
There is a congregation just to the east of us, in
Flatbush, that has a number of Black families. I
don't know the congregation well, only the Rabbi, who
is a real sweetheart. I know him because our son's
magic club used to meet in the shul. He even
mentioned that one of his families hsed. [...]45_2Apr200310:14:59-0800(PST)barbmazor@yahoo.com

I just want to remind you that this program is
available. Rabbi Pollack posted some sample lessons
in the fall. I thought they were pretty good but not
appropriate for us. This is worth checking out. I
have spoken with R. Pollack on the phone and I found
him to be very likable. [...]46_12Apr200322:16:27-0700(PDT)barbmazor@yahoo.com

digest (one email per day, containing all the postings
of the last 24 hours.)
Below are instructions for switching to digest. I
must tell you, however, that if you switch to digest,
whenever anyone sends a message in HTML format, you
will receive that message twice in the digest. One
time in plain text, and 2nd time with all the HTML
commands embedded in the text. It is not a very big
deal, you can scroll past it. It does get a little
bit annoying though. I don't [...]46_13Apr200304:08:19-0700(PDT)barbmazor@yahoo.com

5643 808 9_Software?15_Shoshana Sloman19_ssloman@hotmail.com31_Mon, 21 Apr 2003 14:31:00 +0000431_- In thinking over the affordable possibilities for homeschooling limudei
kodesh, I was wondering about using software lessons, with periodic meetings
with a rebbe. Have any of you successfully used software to keep up your
child's learning, with or without input from a live person? I am mainly
interested in our 11-year-old keeping up for the next three years until he
would be ready for yeshiva high school. [...]41_21Apr200314:31:00+0000ssloman@hotmail.com

teach limudei kodesh at home, WITHOUT having a yeshiva background
themselves. I'm imagining that perhaps someone could learn along with their
children. Of course, there would be input from a rabbi--guidance on what to
study, answers to questions, etc. But the learning itself would be mostly
independent. [...]41_28Apr200301:42:41+0000ssloman@hotmail.com

ages, I will mention that after our oldest two boys learned to ride at
fairly average ages (around 5), our third boy, who is naturally athletic,
taught himself at the age of 3.
