I'd like to find out for my daughter, what kind of an animal is a TACHASH?
It's mentioned in building the mishkan, and supposedly is a spotted animal.
I was told by someone learned in gemara that it is an ancient animal with a
horn on its nose, and could be a "unicorn". However, I came across today,
while learning from RAbbi Baruch Chait's "39 Melachos of Shabbos" book, a
mention of "seal" skin included in the interior
covering/curtains of the mishkan. [...]43_200104290350.f3T3ohk01568@chesler.absol.com

I can very much relate to your desire for a Rav to work out these kinds of
questions with. It does seem difficult to find a Rav who is willing to give
real guidance. My experience is that they tend to leave most things (other
than actual halachic decisions) up to personal inclination. [...]40_3May200108:53:03-0500ssloman@hotmail.com

Actually, I live down the street from your Alma Mater Flatbush.
In fact it was our experience at the elementary school that put us onto
the hsing path.
Unfortunately, the trend in group education is towards more reliance
on standardized test scores, which is really a goal that undermines
general growth, development and education. [...]41_7May200115:47:27-0400aimpe@compuserve.com

Here in South Bend, the Rabbi Naftali Riff Yeshiva provides a rigorous
academic education in addition to an excellent Torah education. In fact,
the students find it quite rough keeping up with everything. :-) [...]40_7May200116:32:49-0500ssloman@hotmail.com

I'd appreciate your thoughts. We are sending both boys to
day camp this summer. I am in much need of a break from
24/7 parenting. Abie, now 10, has really been longing for the
constant companionship of boys his own age.
Abie, formerly known as Abba-Natan, but now wants to have
a more "common" name, began hsing after 1st grade. We
pulled him out mainly because of social and behavioral problems
he was experiencing. It was only later that we realized he had
a whole host of learning issues. Fortunately, we are over-
coming the LD issues, at [...]42_13May200116:14:47-0400aimpe@compuserve.com

This morning I received the following message from
Devorah Segal regarding the message I posted yesterday.
>>The patient died many weeks ago, not from a lack of blood.
Sincerely
Devorah<<
My condolences to the family.
But this brings me to another point, that of chain letters, which
I wanted to discuss with the list anyway.
Actually, that letter was sent to the list by someone else who left
a long string of previous addresses at the beginning. Normally
I would have returned the mail to the sender asking him/her to
edit it, but since this was a matter [...]42_25May200110:01:19-0400aimpe@compuserve.com

Hola! You will be relieved to know that I read all the
messages regarding the false virus warning and
therefore did not forward them to the list.
I would have e-mailed you privately, but I accidently
deleted the e-mail with your address, before I could
write to you.
Be well,
Barbara
