Hi Judi:
There is a wonderful CD by Tanja Solnik titled "From generation to generation: a legacy of lullabies" on the DreamSong Recordings label (DS 101 ; 1993). The lullabies are sung in Ladino, Hebrew & Yiddish and there are liner notes with the texts. They are very singable with beautiful arrangments and in most parents' vocal range. My husband and I love listening to this CD (in contrast to many 'children's' albums) and my daughter Rebekah finds it very soothing. I highly recommend it to all! [...]

I'm a big fan of live parental music for kids -- sing-it-yourself is better than any recording of someone else. Even if you think you can't sing, babies appreciate feeling your body vibrate when you try. I'll be one of the many people who will tell you that Anne is the English equivalent of Hannah. She not only has an interesting story, but she has gotten "good press" from older Jewish sources and is credited, as I remember it, with devising the proper way to say prayers in a semi-audible murmur. (If people had been doing it that way before her, Eli would not have thought she was drunk.) She also, as I remember it -- and whenever I post I start doubting my memory to the point that I am now looking at that "Eli" [...]
