Our Conservative shul in Westport CT is performing a Rabbi search now. As a member of the committee, I am interested in examples of contact that your children have had with your Rabbis that you thought were particularly important. I hope this is a reasonable topic because as a Jewish parent I can think of few more important issues than my childrens' relationship with their Rabbi. Thanks! We got a new Rabbi in July 2001 who is TERRIBLE with the teens. He is rude to them and seems to be in a major power play with them. When he went to NY for 2 weeks to get married, the highest number of teens showed up for confirmation and really enjoyed the time together and with the senior Rabbi. I served on a rabbi search committee last year. Definitely an experience (a really excellent one, but I'm glad it was one year of excellent and not two). The candidates' ability to engage and connect with a wide range of demographics was critical to our choice--the young-family demographic was especially important. I have several suggestions. Have not checked Google since Friday, but as of then, it hadn't posted either. It shouldn't take that long to 'flow around.'
