All through my public school career, which ended with my graduation in 1969, I remember the Catholic kids getting out an hour early one day a week to attend their catechism classes (Catholic supplementary religious school, I had to look it up to find how to spell it). We applied to one Jewish grade school which said it had openings but (after paying $100 in application fees) we were waiting-listed (presumably a polite "no" in favor of full year enrollees). We do not particularly want to add to our already high projected semester expenses by filing applications to schools that have no intention of enrolling our sons. [...]

UAHC Camp Eisner offers a vegetarian option that would be kosher down to the shared dishes/utensils level, but does not offer kosher meat. I was a little surprised because when I went there many years ago they did offer a kosher option as well. [...]

I've been using the Yesh Lanu Lama series with my son at home. Both the = text=20 and work book are completely in Hebrew which forces the child to learn = to=20 think in that language and, what I like best, the child learns, not = only=20 grammar rules and vocabulary, but proper syntax.
