Maybe a technical point, but turning water into gold is
going beyond the nano-scale. Nano-technology is on the
scale of building molecules out of atomic building blocks,
where as to make gold from water would require making
atoms of gold; nuclear engineering.
Whilst everything in physics does point to a universal
'field' in which all matter and forces can be explained as
the action of the field, the technical difficulties in
