Lag BaOmer (33rd in the Omer) is the 33rd day in the 50 day
countdown from the festival of Passover to the Festival of
Shavuot. This is a sober period in which excessive rejoicing
is avoided. However, the 33rd day is the anniversary of the
death of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai (Rashbi), the author of
the Holy Zohar. On this day we get a break from the sobriety
