For nearly two millennia, the Jews wandered the world. Noam is correct, of course, and I really like the way he has been handling this on behalf of Habonet and of the Habonim Dror Foundation. The fee the Shamash operators are asking from each of the lists hosted on their servers is $50 a year, a very reasonable fee in my view. I completely endorse Noam's approach and suggestions to list subscribers. Action Needed - Write today! THANK Presbyterian Church for dropping divestment!

BACKGROUND:

Today the Presbyterian Church USA convincingly voted at its General Assembly by a margin of 483 - 28 to drop divestment from its policy!

The resolution replaces the 2004 call for divestment with a policy of peaceful investment in Israel, the Gaza Strip and West Bank. [...] 30004 18 28_text of "prisoners document"16_Elihu D. While this is indeed a step forward (or a step back from some backward steps?), I'm not sure it is really cause for celebration.

The following paragraph from the NY Times article (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/22/us/22divest.html) on the revision made me wonder: The church also sought to reassure Palestinians by including in the resolution a call for an end to Israel's involvement in Gaza and the West Bank, along with criticism of the Israeli security wall where it encroaches on Palestinian territory and "fails to follow the legally recognized borders of Israel" before the 1967 war. I wonder - exactly which "legally [...] 30423 23 17_MDA joins the IRC12_David Fleiss20_dfleiss@PIPELINE.COM31_Sun, 25 Jun 2006 21:13:09 -0400528_ISO-8859-1 This week Magen David Adom was finally admitted to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

I missed something here. Nowhere could I find an explanation (from the Red Cross), much less an apology, for excluding Magen David Adom for all this time, nor do I understand why their "solution" is to give us a "crystal" as our symbol, rather than a Jewish Star. For years, the Crescent appeared as a proud and valid symbol of the organization, with which I have no problem. It is the feeling of getting hosed again that I am addressing. Ending it was a great victory and required the crystal. Not fair, but better than continued exclusion. The American Red Cross has worked on it on Israel's behalf for several years. - The site, and the press release, is from the _American_ Red Cross, which has been fighting for the admittance of Magen David Adom. I wouldn't expect them to apologize for the actions or inactions of the _International_ Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The last day of the Congress, Bikel was invited to address the plenum, which was a rare honor for someone who is neither an officer of the WZO or a member of the Israeli government.. Thank you for the reply. My own experience with the Int'l Red Cross is of their helping the enemy during the Six-Day War in 1967, by informing them of their effectiveness of hitting or missing Jewish targets.
