One of the reasons that I suggested that LZA's website be named "jewishfrontier.org" is that the back issues of the Jewish Frontier constitute a treasure trove of original Jewish Zionist content that cold bring kavod to LZA and visitors to our site. If we were only able to convert all of the back issues to Web-based text and post them fully indexed and searchable, that would bring many many researchers at all academic levels (Hebrew school through Post docs) to our LZA site for material for research papers. And who knows, it might even bring in a few [...]

The story of how IBM developed software and hardware (using Hollerith punch card technology) to systematically identify the Jews, selected them, researched & confiscated their assets, transported them from all over europe, assigned them to camps, and maintained records of the executed Jews. While the Nazis did use the IBM product, it seemed that IBM made some effort to keep it's foreign companies from dealing with the Nazis. What was unclear was whether it was truly a matter of company conscience or manipulation of the public into believing their actions were noble. I didn't see the end of the segment, but it seemed that the interviewer was of the opinion that the author had ignored some documents so they didn't get in the way of his theory. (I only [...]

I'm sure most of you have considered this, but in case your natural instinct to do good momentarily overcomes your natural instinct to be cynical, here are the questions I always send to the supposed originator of any petition I receive via email, cc'd to the person who sent it to me and anyone else they've listed in the "Send to" box (depending, obviously, on what information is already included in the petition): 1. What date did this petition begin, and what is your cutoff date for taking names? 2. To whom will this petition be sent when [...]

Thirteen percent of the 503 women interviewed said they had experienced sexual harassment at work, while half said Israeli media portray them in a negative light."

When my elder son turned 13 and started going to, it seemed, a zillion Bar Mitzvah services and celebrations, I found that I had to travel far & wide into areas with which I was unfamiliar. I went to Office Depot and decided to spend big bucks for a really good local road atlas. I settled on the Thomas road atlas. It showed all the churches in the area. Not one synagogue. I couldn't believe it! This was a very thick, slick, comprehensive atlas. I took it back and complained at [...]

The British in India (1930's) solved their problem of Muslim terrorist suicide bombings by burying the body of the Muslim terrorist in pig skin. Although a *shahid* goes to Heaven, a *shahid* whose body touches a pig carcass or skin doesn't. The British simply publicized the burying of one such terrorist in a pig carcass and the large spate of suicide bombings ceased immediately.

The Palestinians have long sunk to the level of using their murdered children has PR. We say that they put the kids into harms way, so what should they expect? To me, living with children in a place like Hebron is putting children in harms way. But then to send out a picture, to not bury the child as halacha requires, adds a level of insanity. I heard a few years ago when the idea was first broached in Israel that all it took was one case and it put an end to terrorism activity. Surely, if one only knew the fear we are living in now in Israel from the next attack, one would perhaps think about the idea in a more rational manner. It could save untold lives. I do not recall anyone on Habonet coming out against the use of that picture.
